Welcome to Purley Oaks Primary School, Nursery and Children’s Centre. Our motto is: PRIDE IN EXCELLENCE and our ethos consists of five themes: CARING, SHARING, LEARNING, LISTENING, OURSELVES; this underpins everything we do.
We are a good school that is going from strength to strength. In September 2019 OfSTED recognised us as a good school and observed that:
'staff share a moral purpose to give all pupils a rich education.’
OfSTED cited our Early Years provision as a particular strength:
‘The communication with families in nursery and reception is exemplary. Parents are welcomed into school every week to observe teaching, and learning logs are shared so that parents can support their child at home with ‘next steps’.’
We have high expectations of all our pupils; we expect them to work hard, but also be happy and achieve in all areas of their learning for life. Our curriculum is designed to excite and motivate our children; we have a strong and dedicated staff team who maintain high standards in teaching and learning.
Our pupils are encouraged to take part in the wide range of extra-curricular activities, from street dance through to science eco-club. We also offer 60 places in our nursery, our breakfast club opens at 7:30am and our after school club runs until 6:30pm. We have a successful Children’s Centre, offering a vast range of services for children aged 0 – 5 years old.
Purley Oaks forms strong partnerships with local primary and secondary schools, as well as the local community. We also value the partnership between home and school and its importance in the development and well-being of our children. We work hard to ensure that our school is a welcoming place, all staff are accessible and parents and carers feel supported and involved in the development of their child.
Visitors to Purley Oaks always comment on the friendly, welcoming and safe atmosphere and say how polite our children are:
‘Leaders place the care and welfare of pupils and their families at the heart of all they do. There is a clear determination to ensure that no pupil is ever held back by low expectations.’ OfSTED 2018
We are always delighted to receive visitors, so please do take the time to come and see us.
