Year 5 trip to the Museum of Croydon

As part of Year 5’s WW2 topic, they went to the museum of Croydon to learn more about the war.

Firstly, they took part in a handling session with a member of staff from the museum, they got to learn about and touch many objects from the war including rations cards and pilot caps.

Afterwards, the children headed upstairs to visit the actual museum part of the building. They were each given a clipboard and a sheet of questions to answer to see how much they had learnt. In the museum, they got to spend time in an interactive Anderson shelter and they even got to hold an empty bomb to get an idea of how heavy they actually were!

Year 5 had a great time learning about the war, so much so, they didn't want to leave.
